I love, love, love Townsend. They call it "the quiet side of the Smokies". Small town charm, some tourism industry, beautiful views, close to Cades Cove. Nice public library. Friendly people. Great little mom-and-pop restaurants too. A half hour south of the too-touristy Gatlinburg.
