Anyone who has any idea about cars!! ?

Hi I'm looking for my first car, haven't got a lot of money, going to go for something cheap and cheerful, probably a ka. Anyone no what I should be looking at when looking at the car, papers I need to see, all that kind of stuff. I don't want to get scammed because iv saved up for ages. Thanks. X
